Istanbul will host another great artist of his genre after Madonna and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be rocking the beautiful city at Bosphorus. Canadian songwriter, singer, novelist, poet and thinker, the man with the velvet voice, Leonard Cohen is the latest big name to be declared to perform a concert in Istanbul this summer. Cohen will take the stage on Sept. 19 at the Ülker Arena, as part of his 2012 world tour for his latest album, ‘ Old Ideas’.
Cohen, who is best known for songs such as Leonard Cohen last visited Istanbul in 2009, he performed two unforgettable concerts at the Harbiye Cemil Topuzlu Open Air Theater and stimulated the audience’s emotions fully with songs such as ‘Suzanne,’ ‘Everbody Knows ‘, ‘ Bird on a Wire ‘, ‘ So Long Marianne ’, ‘ First We Take Manhattan ’, ‘ Hallelujah ’ and ‘ Dance Me to the End of Love,’. ‘ Old Ideas ‘ is Leonard Cohen's first record since 2004's ‘ Dear Heather,’ the velvet voice returns to his trademark weighty themes of spirituality, love, sexuality, women, the past and death.
